Getting someone to your door

How do I reach a tradie quickly?

Open the app, tap the trade, tap the tradie, tap Call. Four taps. You land on the trades, so there’s nothing to get through first, and you can ring anyone whose coverage area reaches your suburb.

First launch only, you sign in once with a code and tell us your name and suburb. After that the app opens straight onto the trades.

If they don’t pick up, try the next one, or post the job. That reaches all of them at once.

Will the tradie get my phone number?

No. Calls run through Taskovery, so neither side ever sees the other’s number. Your street address is only shared once you’ve picked someone.

What does it cost to use Taskovery?

Nothing. Posting a job, reading the intros, browsing a trade and messaging a tradie are all free. You pay your tradie for the work and nothing on top of it.

There are no optional extras either. No fee, no add-on, no service charge, no insurance product. The price your tradie quoted is the exact amount that leaves your account. Partners pay us a flat monthly plan, and it is the same amount whatever they bill you.

We’re paid by the tradie’s side, not by you. Those numbers are published too.

How does paying work?

Your tradie sends you a price once they’ve seen the job, with what it covers written down. Nothing is owed until you accept it.

Once you accept, your tradie invoices you directly and you settle it with them however they normally take payment. The figure you both agreed is recorded here, so there is an answer if it is ever disputed.

Taskovery is not in the payment. We do not take it, hold it or pass it on, and nothing is added to the price you agreed. We are paid by partners for their monthly plan, and that amount is the same whatever they bill you.

Because we are not in it, we cannot reverse or refund it. If the work is not right, take it up with your tradie first, the same as you would with anyone you found yourself. Your Consumer Guarantees Act rights apply either way and cannot be contracted out of.

If you get nowhere with them, tell us. We can act on the partner’s account and their reviews, which is what we actually control.

How do I get the best replies to my job?

Detail does the work. “The mixer in the main bathroom drips, I’ve already bought a standard Methven replacement” beats “tap broken” every time. A photo helps too.

Want someone today? Browse the trade and ring a few people directly. It works alongside your post. And we’re on help@trustlane.co.nz if you’d like a hand with the wording.

Can I ask for a price before I choose someone?

Yes. Tick Ask for a rough price when you post and every intro comes back with a ballpark. It’s an estimate, labelled as one, and never becomes an agreed price. The real price arrives later, from the person you chose.

You can also message someone and ask. Plenty of jobs can’t be priced until someone has looked, and “I’d need to see it” is a fair answer.

I’ve picked someone. What happens now?

You both land straight in a conversation, and your address is shared with them. Timing and access are worked out between the two of you from there, and once they’ve seen the job they send you a price to accept.

The job moves ConnectedIn progressCompleted. Completing it is what lets you leave a review.

Can I change my mind after picking someone?

Of course. Either side can cancel with no fee and no penalty. A quick message first is appreciated, since they may have blocked out a day.

If you’ve paid but haven’t confirmed the work, the money hasn’t reached their bank yet. That’s the point of the wait. Raise it on the job or email help@trustlane.co.nz.

Do I need a password?

No. A code emailed to you always works, needs nothing remembered, and is what proves the address is yours in the first place.

A password is optional and exists for one reason: signing in somewhere new without waiting for an email. You can set one right after you first sign in, or any time from Settings, and it needs to be at least eight characters.

Forgotten it? Leave the password box empty and ask for a code. That route is never closed off. You can set a new password from Settings once you’re back in.

How do I delete my account?

From Profile → Settings in the app, or email help@trustlane.co.nz from the address on your account and we’ll take care of it.

Setting yourself up and getting work

What do I need to sign up?

Business name, the trades you do, where you’re based, how far you travel. Then you say whether you’re a company or a sole trader, because that decides what you have to prove.

A company gives us photo ID and its NZBN. A sole trader gives us photo ID and proof of address, a statement or bill from the last three months in the same name. Your trade licence is optional on top, and if your trade is regulated you’ll want it.

How long does verification take, and can I work meanwhile?

Usually one to two working days. ID is quick, and a register check follows as soon as the register confirms it.

You cannot apply for a posted job until your two required checks have passed. That is deliberate, and it is the thing a customer is relying on when they let someone into their house. It is enforced on our side, so there is no version of this where it quietly does not apply to somebody.

What you can do meanwhile: build your profile, appear in searches, be messaged and be rung directly. A badge appears the moment its check clears.

How do I see more jobs?

Two settings do most of the work: your coverage radius and your secondary trades. A plumber who also does appliance work doubles the lists they appear in just by ticking it.

Then look at Insights. It shows which step is worth ten minutes: your profile if you’re seen but not opened, your reply speed if your intros aren’t landing.

Do I pay for leads?

No. You never buy a lead, a contact or a credit, and there is no monthly cap on how many jobs you can see or introduce yourself to.

You pay a flat monthly plan, and the plan sets how many jobs you can have on the go at the same time: $49 for one, $99 for three, $199 for eight, $399 for no limit. Nothing comes off the work itself. All four plans in full.

This page used to say you took 10%. What changed?

We stopped. It’s worth setting out the whole thing rather than quietly editing the old sentence away, because we got this wrong once already.

At the start we took nothing, and this page promised that if charging ever began it would be an announced flat fee for tradies, not a cut of your job and not a per-lead charge.

Then we introduced a 10% commission on Standard, which was a cut of the work. This page said plainly at the time that it broke the promise.

It is gone. There is no commission on any plan, and there never will be one again. What you pay is a flat monthly amount for how many jobs you can run at once, announced in advance, exactly as originally promised. Nothing comes off the work.

Why the change: taking a percentage meant sitting in the middle of your customer’s payment and holding their money until they confirmed. It also meant a busy month cost you more for the same service. Charging for capacity instead means we never touch your customer’s money at all, and your good months are entirely yours.

If you signed up on the old terms, you are better off, not worse: nothing is being deducted from your jobs any more. Email help@trustlane.co.nz if you want to talk it through.

Can I appear higher in the results?

One way, and it is labelled where a customer can see it: anyone can buy a week of placement in one trade in one area for $29. Your monthly plan buys you no position at all, so a partner on Unlimited appears exactly where a partner on Solo does.

Every card lifted that way carries the word Promoted. The Closest and Top rated sorts have no placement at all, and nobody can buy their way up them, including us.

The rest is earned: your rating, how far you travel, and how fast you reply.

Who can see the Trade room?

Tradies only, enforced on the server rather than by hiding a tab. The one place in the product that isn’t about a transaction.
